POEM 11
Kamil Szuszkiewicz / Mateusz Rybicki
Kamil Szuszkiewicz, Mateusz Rybicki, Paweł Sokołowski, Dawid Kosiarkiewicz
Kamil Szuszkiewicz - trumpeter, improviser, composer, and leader of the band Zvanai. On June 9, 2025, we recorded the trumpet in a Warsaw ladomek, using the resonance of a piano with open dampers.
Paweł Sokołowski - saxophonist. Co-founder and soul of the Musica Privata festival. We recorded the soprano saxophone at night on the grounds of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, taking advantage of the architectural acoustics; the sounds of fireworks accidentally joined the recording.
Dawid Kosiarkiewicz - saxophonist, composer, and conceptual artist from Września, a jazz musician trained in New York, and member of the Septembra quartet. We recorded the baritone saxophone in a tunnel Dawid suggested, under a railway viaduct. A river flows through it, the arches reverberate, and people pass by.
Mateusz Rybicki is a clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and improviser associated with the Wrocław music scene. He leads the Ascetic quartet and the Mateusz Rybicki Apokalypsis septet, which performs his compositions.
Before performing at the festival at the Silesian Library in Katowice, we recorded a walking tour. Leaving the room where the double bass could still be heard, we walked through the corridors to the library hall, continuing to record and interact with the surroundings.

This is another album in Monaural Poetry’s Series 1 — solo field recordings of musicians’ performances. What matters most for this series is the use of specific acoustics and a recording approach as a form of live sound production. All recordings are made on a Nagra SNN tape recorder and go straight to vinyl without any digital processing.
You can buy or stream the files on Bandcamp, but we recommend the vinyl record and good playback equipment
